Admissions

Sunny Hollow Montessori enrolls children in primary and elementary programs. In order to be considered for our primary program the child must be between 33 months (toilet trained) and five years of age by September 1. Our elementary program is open to children aged six through ten.

Sunny Hollow Montessori admits students of any race, color, national & ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship programs and other school administered programs.

Process

We ask interested parents to visit the school and observe in the Montessori Children’s House environment. Adult visitors are welcome to observe Thursdays between 9:15 a.m.–10:30 a.m. from November through May. Observation appointments can be scheduled by calling the school office (651) 690-2307. We also welcome visitors during the summer by appointment. Montessori classes, however, are not in session June through August.

When you make the decision to apply, complete the Application for Admissions form and send it to Sunny Hollow with a non-refundable $75 Application Fee. After completing your parent observation, we encourage you to schedule a second observation appointment to visit Sunny Hollow with your child. Parent/child observations are scheduled Thursdays between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m. You will have an opportunity to visit with the teaching staff while your child explores the Montessori environment. Call (651) 690-2307 to schedule an appointment.

If admission is offered to your child, a non-refundable $450 Admissions Deposit and signed tuition agreement will be due 10 business days from date placement is offered. The $450 Admissions Deposit will be applied to your child’s tuition schedule. Upon receipt of an Admissions Deposit and signed tuition agreement, we will hold a place for your child in our program and you will be contractually obligated for the tuition for the enrollment period.

Scholarship

Sunny Hollow Montessori has both a general scholarship and a diversity scholarship program. These programs are available to households that qualify to the extent that funds are available. Applications for assistance are processed by Student Services for Financial Aid, a unit of the National Association of Independent Schools. Tuition assistance applications are available at www.nais.org or in the Sunny Hollow office and must be submitted to both Sunny Hollow and Student Services for Financial Aid by March 1. Priority is given to applications from returning households. All households must apply each year to receive consideration. There is a financial aid application fee per family set by Student Services for Financial Aid.

Housholds applying for diversity scholarship funds must submit by March 1 the Student Scholarship Services application available from the office, or online at www.nais.org, and the Diversity Scholarship application.
